Viajar a Isla de Lobos

Travel to Lobos Island

Everything you need to know before travelling to Isla de Lobos in Fuerteventura

Discovering Lobos Island is an experience that awakens the senses and emotions of anyone who ventures to explore its natural wonders. This small paradise, located between Fuerteventura and Lanzarote in the Canary Islands, offers a diversity of landscapes and activities that captivate visitors from the first moment.

Before planning the visit

Before planning your visit, if the idea is to spend a day at the beach and capture a beautiful photo of Puertito, it is key to check the tide table. The best opportunity to capture the image of the wooden Puertito with the turquoise blue water in the background is during the high tide.

How to get to Lobos Island?

To reach this hidden gem, the best option is to depart from Fuerteventura. From there, most travellers choose to embark from the port of Corralejo and buy their tickets online, which will allow you to secure your seats in advance and avoid last-minute surprises. We offer you our ferry just 20 minutes away from Fuerteventura, with excellent customer service on board and one of the most comfortable boats.

What to do and what to see?

Once on the island, the range of possibilities unfolds before you. Despite the limited time available (around 4 hours), planning ahead ensures you make the most of every corner. However, if you need additional help, upon arrival there is a visitor centre where you can learn a little more about the origin and curiosities of the island.

Touring the island on foot is the best option, as there are no motorised vehicles due to its status as a protected area. The route to the Isla de Lobos lighthouse offers a spectacular panoramic view, with must-see stops such as El Puertito, where a beach bar next to a cove of crystal-clear waters invites you to enjoy snorkelling.

Continuing towards the lighthouse, majestic views of the La Caldera volcano are revealed, a perfect backdrop for memorable photographs. Those with extra energy can choose to ascend to the top of the volcano, a hike that rewards with even more impressive views. The descent leads to Las Salinas, ancient buildings that add a historical touch to the landscape. And finally, the icing on the cake: La Concha beach, an oasis of tranquility where you can relax and enjoy snorkelling in crystal-clear waters.

At Naviera Nortour we offer organised activities such as mini-cruises, snorkelling and bicycle rentals with transport to Lobos Island, among others.

Where to eat on Lobos Island?

The return to the dock marks the end of the adventure on Isla de Lobos, but it is also a time to reflect on the experiences lived and the memories created. For those interested in local cuisine, it is important to note that there is only one beach bar called “Antoñito El Farero”, it is the only place on the island to eat, it has very limited capacity and is not always open. That is why we recommend that you always bring enough water and food, since in El Puertito there is a rest area that is sheltered from the sun and there are some tables to eat.

Essentials for your backpack

Before you set off, it is essential to prepare yourself properly. Sun protection, an umbrella and/or a hat are essential due to the lack of shade on the island. We also recommend that you bring water for the whole day along with some food and comfortable shoes to explore every corner in comfort.

In short, Isla de Lobos is much more than a common tourist destination. It is an invitation to immerse yourself in the natural beauty and history of the Canary Islands, to connect with the land and the sea in a unique way. If you are looking for an unforgettable experience, look no further: Isla de Lobos is waiting for you.
